Kindergarteners Shape Their World

Using Shapes and Building Blocks software, from the Terc Math Investigation Curriculum, kindergartners rotate, move, duplicate, paste, erase, and explore the properties of basic two dimensional shapes. Kindergartners know that a diamond is also called a 'rhombus'. They can also identify a hexagon, square, trapezoid, triangle, and a rectangle.

'MultiFlying' Third Graders Save the Solar System

Third graders have been sharpening up their multiplication skills and saving our Solar System at the same time. They have been playing MultiFlyer, an exciting video game, that gives them plenty of practise on times tables. Try it yourself by clicking here!

Fourth Graders Begin Study of our Solar System

Fourth Graders are using BrainPop to study our solar system. You can check out a free BrainPop movie this week by clicking here. They will be researching our sun, the planet and the major moons. Students also love to use the web site The Virtual Solar System.

This week has been a very busy one. Miss Maher’s class has been making tremendous progress with Type to Learn. They are at the end of their second week and have one more week to go. In a week all the students will have learned home position, all letters and basic punctuation, without looking at the keyboards.

Fourth Graders Writing Books

Mrs. Printer's fourth graders are writing books for their kindergarten book buddies. The stories feature individual plot lines which include details about each student in Mrs. Dallzell's class. For example, Frances' book buddy, Lola, loves to dance so Frances' book is about Lola dancing.

Third Grade Researchers Write About Animals

All third grade classes are working on animal research topics. Each student picks an animal, learns about its' habitat, life cycle, life structure, potential hazards and develops a plan of protection. Students present what they have learned to their classmates in a PowerPoint presentation.
